Chapter 52

Amanda followed, her heart thumping furiously. Howard was staring over the fence, but the children had long since gone back to their classrooms, leaving the empty swings swinging.

Behind him, Elias coldly asked, “You think it’s funny to go out without telling anyone?”

Howard turned around. “Well, look who found me. How did you know I was here?”

“Howard, you should’ve told the butler you were coming out,” Amanda said as she approached Howard.

Elias’ patience had run out, and he angrily said, “Why did you do this? Why did you come here?”

Howard stubbornly wanted to drive back home himself, so Elias and Amanda followed him slowly. It took them more than an hour to come back, and Amanda was asked to stay for lunch.
